How to do a demo in Livemeeting

As you could see in a former entry I was a  Guest Speaker in Windows PowerShell Virtual User Group Meeting , from this experience :

How to do a demo in Livemeeting :

  • Break headset day before
  • leave early from work to be in time for session.
  • already have traffic jam, buy new headset on the way
  • Pff, not bad after all, nicely in an hour before time.
  • Connect headset to main machine , hmm no USB installed in RC0
  • boot to good old XP partition
  • Headset works,
  • Live meeting starts OK, not yet time
  • Start PowerShell, Hmm RC2 , Quickly install or better to use laptop after all.
  • Ok, then laptop so I can also use the headset with skype if Livemeeting audio can't be used
  • connected laptop, inserted Headset
  • failed to install USB composite device, (Vista)
  • Getting time to connect now (1/2 hour before ) ,
  • connected Livemeeting ..
  • Search Daillin information in mail
  • Call in by normal Phone to let them know I'm there
  • call in to Dutch number does not work,
  • call in to Belgian number, connection now OK but on DECT phone
  • Test livemeeting sharing, might be handier to share whole desktop but works OK.
  • OK, then try it that way, clean up desktop to share complete
  • Listed to Keiths talk on laptop audio, but keep Phone connected (mute)
  • my time to talk, time to unmute
  •  Oops phone connection gone,
  • Arg, phone number in one mail or site , access code on other
  • look them up again, ..
  • Dail into belgium number
  • reconnected, PowerGadgets started, chat with Marco OK I take over after ..
  • PowerGadget Demo ended
  • Started my session, gigaset in one hand typing with the other ..
  • desktop a mess share, so only PowerShell again, can't switch app, no notes ,
  • OK, we can still start ..
  • Show that you protected all variables, what do you do ? ... Mess up there container ;-)
  • Ok not try to troubleshoot to much ..
  • Start new shell and then reshare it in LiveMeeting to fix this
  • resume demo freewheeling, what did I miss
  • what was starttime again , how much time left ?
  • Doorbell rings, close talk, mute,
  • longer ring
  • Packet from MS is been delivered.
  • Yes, thanks, bye ! ...
  • Come back , unmute
  • Ok, forgot to show the Links,
  • Marco helps me trough in QA with some questions.
  • Get possibility to Show my WMI Explorer in QA time.

So I'm curious to see it back, if I still was able to show some the value of Powertab by using it with one hand while on the Phone talking ;-), and will I follup the unclear parts and the ones I did miss on my blog after watching it back.

Marco will Post the recorded session after the weekend see :  PowerShell Virtual User Group- chat log from meeting #1

You can see from the summary above that I had some problems little with my connection and demonstration, and there was a slight "wait melody" problem at the start of the meeting , but LiveMeeting 2007 was new for most of us and I think overall it was a very successful first meeting, and hope there will be much more to follow.

So I want to thank Marco again for organizing this meetings and inviting me for this one.

Enjoy,

Greetings /\/\o\/\/

PS Found Firmware update in the meantime, to get headset working.
